I have long tried to figure out what the best way to store K'nex is. I have finally found a method that works well for me, and you may like it, too! It is time-consuming starting out, but it saves lots of rummaging through bins later on.

"My human likes playing with knex. Some people say it's a kid's toy, but she thinks it's a fun and creative hobby to have. I like them because I can chase them around the house, and they're small enough to pick up and carry off! When they are in storage, though, it's a lot harder for me to get at them... Here's how they are stored:

Depending on how many k'nex you have, you will need some empty bins. (I love bins! They are so fun to sit in!)

My human uses two bins for hers, but she probably would need three if all her builds were disassembled.

You can also use some of these nifty storage bins for the pieces that you have lots of. (This bin is just my size!)

Seriously, though, I love bins... and boxes... and anything I can sit in, really.

She also uses this K'nex case she got with her very first set. Somewhere along the way, the other knex bins she had got lost, though. She uses this bin for various odds and ends.

She then uses ziploc bags to separate out the different colorful pieces. These are all her connectors.

(OH HAI! Here I am. Much better picture than that last one.)

And here are the different rods! She even likes to separate out the bendy rods from the solid ones.

My human just feels so much better when her k'nex are in order, and so do I!

These are all the specialty/random parts she has. She likes to keep the track tubing in bags, too, so that it doesn't get tangled... or chased by me...

When you disassemble builds, just have all your bags/bins nearby so you can throw pieces in the bags they belong in!

The pieces mostly fit in these two big bins! And when my human wants to use them, all she has to do is pull out the ziploc bags! 

Now you see what I mean... they are just so much harder to pick up and run off with when they are all stored like this!

Well, that's about all I have for today. Maybe my human will let me pose with K'nex more often now! If not, I will just keep stealing her pieces as she works... it drives her crazy. xD

Kitchen Organizing with K'nex: Lid Holder

Wow, it's been quite a while since I've posted a new build. I was on vacation for almost two weeks this month. My hubby and I took an Alaskan cruise, and I loved every minute of it! But you didn't come here to read about that, so let's get down to business.

I am continuing to find ways to organize my kitchen using knex. Over the past couple days, I have been trying to make a holder for the lids for my pots and pans. I have two different sets of lids, so it was a little tricky finding the right combination of parts, but I think I've finally got it. I plan to put this in the cupboard right up against the edge, and then I can stack my pots up next to it!

Also, I do run out of ideas for builds every now and again, so if you've got anything you'd like to see knex-ified, let me know! =D

Toilet Paper Holder

Here's an extremely simple build, a toilet paper holder, that I whipped up yesterday:

Kitchen Organizing with K'nex: Measuring Spoon/Cup Holder

I have been meaning to organize my kitchen a little bit better, and I think K'nex can help me achieve a functional, colorful, organized kitchen! This build is super simple. Anyone who has bought a knex set at any point should have the few key pieces I used to make this. I plan on hanging it on a Command hook in an accessible place above one of my counter tops! If you have smaller hanging holes on your kitchen tools, you can resort to using micro knex for the pegs!

Knex Drink Holder

The Knex build I bring to you today is one that can be used for multiple occasions. It could be put in a theater/entertainment room, a kitchen, or even at an event. Part of the build idea came from freefire137 on the Knex Reddit. He suggested building a sort of soda can dispenser. I coupled that idea with holders for packets of hot cocoa and cider, thereby creating a sort of drink holder. I meant to post it a few days ago, but the hubby and I usually don't have any soda in the house. So, I had to go out and snag some (generic, yes, but they are standard soda can size, so I figured they would do the trick!).

View from the back (I used green bendy K'nex to create the curvature in the soda can part, so that the sodas could easily slide out) 

The packet holders (I am considering adding a tea bag slot above these packets in the back)

I like that it doesn't take up a whole lot of counter space. It's only about 6" from front to back.

Knex Craft Organization/Storage: Ribbon Holder

As I've been setting up my craft room, I have been coming across new ways to use knex for storage and convenience! Today, a ribbon holder. I made this one to be able to hang on a hook on the wall. However, it can be modified to sit on a desk. The ribbon holder will also allow for dispensing of the ribbon without having to take it off the holder!

Knex 101: Christmas Storage Ideas

Well, the time has come to take down the lights, the tree, stocking, and other Christmas decorations. The trick? Storing everything efficiently so that it doesn't take hours upon hours to untangle lights and tinsel when you bring your Christmas stuff out again in November (or whenever it is that you decorate for Christmas ;) ). My helpful Christmas storage item this year? Why, Knex of course!

It doesn't take a lot of parts, but it keeps thing so neat and tidy!

  

These are stocking holders I made from old tissue boxes, rice to weigh it down, and grey K'nex rods.

Knex Wine Holder

This build has been a long time coming. One of my friends recommended building a wine holder several weeks back, and I thought that was a great idea! However, my hubby and I both dislike most forms of alcohol, especially wine. So, my plan was to make a wine holder once Aldi got their seasonal sparkling grape juice in! I know, we're a bit crazy. =P Anyway, I bought said sparkling grape juice (which is so delicious), and today, I made a wine holder.

Spruce Up Your Space with Knex Storage Options!

Yesterday, I decided to start organizing my new craft room. As many of you know, I work mainly with remnants when I sew. This gave me a great idea! I made storage cubes to house my remnants. The awesome thing about it is that I can add more cubes. Not only that, but if you were so inclined to buy canvas storage bins/cubes, they would fit pretty well.

I am so excited that I can finally see all my fabrics without having to rifle through them or have them all sprawled out across the floor. The storage cubes will work great for lighter items, but I didn't construct them for heavier items. Of course, it could be reinforced to accommodate heavy objects.
